RELIGIOUS EDUCATION COMMISSION meets the second Thursday of the odd months, January, March, May, July, September, November after the 7:00p.m. Mass. The commission acts as a sounding board and advisory group for various arms of the parish religious education. Attendance: Theresa Roberts, Julie Edmonson, Joyce Appelman, Cindy Ackerman, Suzanne Schneller, and Kathie Griffin
After an opening prayer of Gospel Reflection we brainstormed some goals for the coming year.
Some interesting topics including, PREP for parents, a sex education program and program for young adults
A review of current prep activities followed. These included Pet Blessing, Mission Sunday, All Saints Day, Christmas Play and Liturgy of the light.
Current issues that would benefit from attention included:
1) Textbooks/coordination with St. Mary’s to get bulk rate 2) Increasing children’s attendance at Mass and Prep 3) Scheduling Christmas activities 4) Obtaining additional commission members 5) Need for someone to take minutes and to report to Parish Council 6) Having T-Shirts/Golf Shirts with St. Peter Prep or Logo to wear to outside events
Meetings will be held every month on Thursday at St. Peters. Next Meeting November 8 after Mass..
